To address this, it is not as simple as just adding filler to the marionette line, as by adding volume to the lower face without addressing the cause (which is volume loss in the upper face) you can create a mismatch and an overall disharmony to the face. This is when people end up looking a bit odd. Instead, I address the causes of the marionette line by using filler strategically in the cheeks and jawline and chin to help lift and stretch the tissues and support the ligaments which have become lax over time. I then often use a modest amount of filler to support the corners of the mouth which puts back in the structure there once was and helps soften the marionette line.
