Chemical peels in Otterbourne & Bishops Waltham
Chemical peels can be a very effective way of rejuvenating the skin without using needles. Depending on the depth of the peel, they can treat active acne and pigmentation or just help with dullness giving the skin a healthy glow.
I use two different types of peels in my clinic. Firstly The Perfect Peel which is a medium depth chemical peel using a blend of acids. There is some downtime associated as your skin goes quite red and tight then peels on days 3-5, leaving beautiful, healthy skin by day 7. You will get benefit from one peel but I highly recommend a course of at least three peels every four weeks for maximum benefit.
I also love the Obagi Blue Peel Radiance which is a superficial salicylic acid peel with little to no downtime. This is perfect if you can’t commit to any downtime as after a course of six peels, your skin looks glowy, healthy and pigmentation is reduced.
In terms of the treatment, I remove any make up and prep the skin with degreaser. Then I apply the peel in layers which feels like an intense heat that builds up and then subsides. Depending on how your skin reacts determines how many layers of peel are applied. The more layers, the deeper the peel and the more benefit (and more peeling!) you get. I give patients a hand held fan which helps enormously with the feeling of heat on the skin.
With the Perfect Peel there are some after care instructions including a retinol soaked wipe that you use for two consecutive nights to encourage skin peeling, and a Vitamin C moisturiser.
With the Obagi Blue Radiance Peel, you can apply make up immediately after and there is little to no downtime.
Benefits of Chemical Peels:
- Improve the overall tone and texture of your skin
- Lighten and brighten your skin
- Remove or reduce sun damage and age spots
- Reduce pore size and soften fine lines and wrinkles
- Reduce or eliminate Hyperpigmentation and acne scars
- Improve acne skin conditions and Melasma
- Stimulate the production of collagen resulting in firmer skin
- Slow down the aging process and prevent wrinkles
Aftercare
After treatment, I advise my patients not to do anything that will make them hot or flushed (red in the face) otherwise there is a risk of the Botox spreading to a muscle we are not intending to treat. Examples of this would be exercise, saunas, sunbeds (don’t use sunbeds ever anyway!), lots of alcohol or facials. After 24 hours you can do any of the above as the Botox won’t move after this.

Dr Laura is super helpful for my skin and jaw concerns, would highly recommend!Posted on David MeadTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Review of third treatment for teeth clenching (bruxism) with Laura. Clear that the earlier treatments had resulted in less powerful clenching having a positive effect on teeth. Additional applications given to hopefully improve matters further. Hoping for even better results.Posted on Charlotte MorleyTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Beautiful reception with smiling and smart staff. Spotless loo. Clean and clinical treatment room. Laura looked great and was not, as so many are, altered radically by trialling injections! She was also bright, funny, reassuring and came up with good advice and a treatment plan going forward. I feel totally happy and secure with her.
