Lip filler doesn’t have to about huge volume and duck lips or trout pouts. In fact I cringe when I see lips that look like that and it makes my job so much harder! I love doing lip filler on the kind of lips I have described above as I use a wonderful filler that is more on the hydration side than the volumising side. I know from talking to my patients that their biggest fear is looking ‘done’ and so they only want a subtle amount of volume increase but more than anything my patients notice the improvement in texture of the lips and the increased hydration. To address the smokers lines I use a different filler to recreate the border of the lip and also treat those lines directly. This has such a wonderful effect at rejuvenating the whole mouth area, which can be quite ageing.
As we age we lose the support of the tissues around the mouth and the corners of the mouth can drop. This leads to a sad appearance and women in particular can be accused of looking miserable even when they don’t feel it! By helping support the corners of the mouth with filler, the whole resting expression of the face can change.
Aftercare
After treatment, I advise my patients not to do anything that will make them hot or flushed (red in the face) otherwise there is a risk of the Botox spreading to a muscle we are not intending to treat. Examples of this would be exercise, saunas, sunbeds (don’t use sunbeds ever anyway!), lots of alcohol or facials. After 24 hours you can do any of the above as the Botox won’t move after this.
