WHAT IS BOTOX?
Botulinum Toxin, colloquially known as Botox, is a purified toxin which has been used since 1978 to treat strabismus (crossed eyes) but was granted a cosmetic license to treat frown lines in 2004.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
It works by blocking the release of Acetylcholine - a substance needed for the muscle to contract - thereby temporarily relaxing it and stopping lines caused by repeated movement of the facial muscles.
HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?
The effects of Botulinum last for approximately 3 months but it does vary from person to person. You will be assessed 2 weeks after your first treatment to ensure any adjustments can be made at that time. From thereon your specific dosing will be recorded and repeated for subsequent consultations.
CAN ANYONE HAVE BOTOX?
No. A qualified doctor will take a medical history and will be able to assess whether this treatment is suitable for you. It may be that a medical condition or medication you are taking may preclude you from having Botox which is why it is important to make sure you are happy with the quaIifications of the person you are choosing to inject you.

These are the lines that appear on your forehead due to repeated eyebrow raising. When botox is used well it can give a fresh appearance and retain some brow movement rather than the frozen look that celebrities seem to favour.
ORBICULARIS OCCULI
Commonly known as crows feet, these lines around the eyes can age people.
HYPERHYDROSIS (EXCESS SWEATING)
Botox can be injected into the underarms to stop excess sweating.
NEFERTITI NECK LIFT
Botox is carefully injected into the neck to improve the definition of the jawline, relax the jowls and produce a "lifting effect" elongating the neck.
GUMMY SMILE
A gummy smile is defined as showing more than 3mm of gum when smiling, which can make people very self conscious. Botox can be injected very carefully into the levator labii superioris to bring the lip line down and produce a more aesthetically pleasing smile.
TEETH GRINDING
Botox can be injected into the masseter muscles to help treat teeth grinding and in the case of overdeveloped masseters, it can also slim the jawline.
BUNNY LINES
Botox can be injected into the nasalis muscle to stop the lines at the top of the nose.
CHEMICAL BROW LIFT
Botox can be used to lift the brows and shape them. This treatment is also good for tightening loose skin around the upper eyelids.
WHAT ARE DERMAL FILLERS?
As we age, our skin produces less collagen and our fat pads and even bone actually shrinks. Therefore we lose volume in the skin and combined with the effects of gravity, it can create sagging and lines in the lower face. Dermal fillers recreate the natural hyaluronic acid we have in our skin to replace volume and give a more youthful appearance. They can also be used to enhance lips when used carefully.
HOW DO THEY WORK?
Dermal fillers such as Teosyal work by mimicking natural hyaluronic acid found in our skin. The filler gel is injected directly into the skin and then smoothed out. The filler attracts water molecules which gives the skin plumpness and volume, and also smoothes out lines.
HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?
The hyaluronic acid is naturally absorbed by the body over about 6-12 months. The absorption varies depending on both the area injected and from individual to individual.

PROFHILO
Profhilo is an injectable skin remodelling treatment, using one of the highest concentrations of hyaluronic acid on the market. The product spreads out under the skin like honey, drawing in water and stimulating the cells to make collagen and elastin.

CHEEK FILLER
Cheek filler is an excellent way to restore lost volume in the mid face and can greatly reduce lines in the lower face. In younger people it can be used to create contoured cheekbones.

We start to lose about 1% of collagen per year from our early 30's and this is what gives skin elasticity, so by replenishing the collagen the skin becomes firmer, tighter and brighter. Profhilo also gives fantastic results on younger skin, hydrating it from the inside and giving an overall glow.

REDENSITY 1
Teosyal Redensity 1 is an amazing beauty booster treatment, to replenish hydration, help fine lines and improve skin texture.
It is made up of hyaluronic acid, antioxidants, amino acids and vitamins which are injected very superficially into the skin (face/hands/decolletage/neck) which has a number of beneficial outcomes. Firstly, the hyaluronic acid is a fantastic moisturiser so the skin is hydrated from within. It also promotes collagen formation so the skin becomes less crepey and more elastic and firm. The skin is remodelled and the texture improves and all these changes result in the skin having more of a glow.
It is not a filler and will not alter the shape of the face in any way, and as it is injected so superficially it does not carry the same risks as filler treatment.
An anaesthetic cream can be used beforehand to minimise discomfort and the product also contains local anaesthetic.

The Obagi blue radiance peel is a quick treatment that can optimise the skin in a number of ways - it helps acne and acne scarring, decreases pigmentation, tightens pores, decreases fine lines and gives the skin an overall glow. This can be used in combination with the Obagi skincare range or as a stand alone treatment. For acne, six peels are recommended but for general skin rejuvenation, three peels is usually enough.
